Al Ain Wildlife Resort Park, located in Al Ain, Emirate of Dubai, UAE, is a massive mixed-use development built around a central resort by Kobi Karp Architecture and Interior Design. The interior lighting scheme not only has to meet the pilot ESTIDAMA requirements of the UAE (similar to LEED, but approximately 20% more aggressive on energy consumption) but also needs to be sensitive to its place in a wildlife reserve. With wild animals approaching directly to the building on one side, light spill from windows, visible sources installed in interior ceilings and adjacent to windows are universally shielded and controlled. Now in construction, the concepts seen here represent a modern interpretation of the local architectural vocabulary, open to innovation, but familiar to guests.
