Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants this week announced that its Hotel Palomar South Beach is slated to open 2018.
Owned and developed by Bay Harbor Islands-based Finvarb Group, the luxury boutique property at 1750 Alton Road in Miami Beach will feature a rooftop pool and a restaurant overlooking the Collins Canal, among other amenities. Miami architect Kobi Karp designed the hotel.
Hotel Palomar South Beach will be San Francisco-based Kimpton’s eighth hotel in Florida, joining hotel properties such as South Florida’s Angler’s and the Surfcomber hotels.
“Miami continues to be one of the hottest tourist destinations in North America and has become an increasingly popular destination for international travelers as well,” Mike DeFrino, Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants CEO, said in a statement. “The Hotel Palomar South Beach will be a wonderful addition to our properties in sunny South Florida.”
Ronny Finvarb, principal of the Finvarb Group, said in a statement: “Situated in one of the most walkable locations in all of Miami Beach and equidistant to both Lincoln Road and Sunset Harbour, guests of the hotel will not only be surrounded by world-class restaurants, shopping and other great amenities, but they will also enjoy state-of-the-art design, technology, comfort and the unparalleled service that our hotel and Kimpton team will offer.”
Miami Beach is South Florida’s top tourism destination, and although hotel fullness has been comparatively weak this year due to economic forces beyond the region, hospitality properties are expected to see visitation pick up by 2017, experts say.
