The program brief Karp took on for this project:

To design a contextual tower adjacent to a historic low-rise apartment building–designed by an architect who once worked for Meyer Lansky.

Finally, we hear how the building has played a role in a broader urban-planning initiative in Miami Beach–opening up access to Biscayne Bay.
